Armando Vannucci was born in Frosinone on 16 november 1968. He received the Dr.Ing. degree in Electronic Engineering \\"cum laude\\" from the University of Rome \\"La Sapienza\\" in 1993, discussing a thesis about digital analysis of speech signals with applications to speech recognition. From 1993 to 1994 he was with INFO-COM Dept. at the University of Rome, From March 1995 to February 1998 he was a Ph.D. Student at the Dipartimento di Ingegneria dell\\'Informazione (DII), University of Parma. He received his Ph.D. in Information Technology in June 1998 from the University of Parma, discussing the thesis: \\"Sequence estimation receivers for nonlinear transmission channels\\" During his Ph.D. he joined a research project on digital radio links sponsored by \\"Italtel SpA\\", for which he now holds two patents. From 1998 to 2002, he held various positions at the University of Parma, eventually focusing his research activity on Optical Communications. Since september 2002, Armando Vannucci is a Researcher (Assistant Professor) at the DII, University of Parma. His current research interests are in the field of fiber optics transmission, particularly focused on nonlinear optical propagation, WDM systems, Polarization Mode Dispersion and Semiconductor Optical Amplifiers. He took part in various research projects, both istitutional and with industrial partners. He is the author of around ten international scientific papers, plus conference proceedings and book chapters. Armando Vannucci is an IEEE member and has been a reviewer for various international journals. He has been a visiting scientist at the Alcatel Labs in Marcoussis, France, and at the Università© Laval in Quèbec City, Canada. Armando Vannucci, for many years in charge of the courses \\"Signal Theory\\" and \\"Audio and Video Signal Processing\\" at the University of Parma, resigned after the Italian University Reform law in 2010. He is the author of the textbook: \\"Segnali Analogici e Sistemi Lineari\\", Pitagora Editrice, Bologna (Italy), 2003.
Since march 2010, Armando Vannucci is the scientific leader, for the Parma University unit, of the National PRIN2008 project \\"Polarizon\\", which was the only financed project, at Parma, for the \\"area panel 09\\".
Armando Vannucci is a SCUBA diving instructor (NAUI n.50095) and has been the 2009 Italian Marathon champion, for the category University-Faculty members.
