Doctor Bruno Magliona was born in Turin on January 9th, 1960. After obtaining his leaving certificate from his high school specialising in classical studies, he enrolled at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Turin in the 1978/1979 academic year. During his undergraduate years he attended as an internal student first, from 1984 to 1986, the Neurological Clinic of the University of Turin and then, from 1986 to 1997, the Institute of Medical Forensic Science of the University of Turin. On July 14th, 1987 he was awarded his degree in Medicine and Surgery with full marks cum laude and publication of dissertation recommended by the University of Turin. In the second session of 1987 he passed the Italian State Examination to obtain the licence to practise Medicine and Surgery with a grade of 94/100. Since February 1st 1988 he has been on the professional register of surgeons of the Provincial Association of Surgeons and Dentists of Turin. In the 1987/1988 academic year he was admitted, as the first in the list of eligible candidates, to the School of Specialisation in Legal and Insurance Medicine at the University of Turin. On October 25th, 1991 he obtained his specialist diploma in Legal and Insurance Medicine with a grade of 70/70 and an honorary mention. In November 1991 he was admitted, as the first in the list of eligible candidates, to the 7th cycle of the research Ph.D in Medical Deontology and Ethics at the University of Siena. On September 11th, 1995 he was awarded his Ph.D in Medical Deontology and Ethics at the University of Perugia, defending a dissertation entitled 'Sacralit e qualit della vita umana: riflessioni in tema di etica medica ['Sacredness and quality of human life: reflections on the theme of medical ethics'. As of November 17th, 1997, Doctor Bruno Magliona, after winning a competition for a permanent position based on qualifications and examination for the position of university research fellow (Faculty of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Florence scientific subject area F22B Medicina Legale [Legal Medicine]) was appointed as university research fellow for the scientific subject area F22B Medicina Legale [Legal Medicine] at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Florence. Doctor Magliona's research has focused on the relation between individual rights and safeguarding the interests of the community in compulsory health treatment, evaluation of the capacity of self-determination in the healthcare field, with special reference to natural incapacity, and medical-legal evaluation of civil liability in related chronic HCV hepatitides.
