Learning outcomes of the course unit
The course aims to provide the knowledge of the principal dental materials and the understanding of their properties during laboratory training in order to provide the student the ability of developing a critical evaluation and control of material properties that may be useful to their professional activity.
Course contents summary
The aim of the course is to provide the student the knowledge of the materials commonly used in clinical practice and their applications through a direct observation in the laboratory in order to better understand their principal properties and their control through experimental techniques.
Practical experiments on Hook’s law. Orthodontic stainless steel wires forces and moments. Experiments on impression materials. Composite resins dimensional variations. Blue light polymerisation.

Oral exam in order to ensure the quality and level of knowledge and understanding of the course content and the ability to apply the acquired knowledge to professional practice. The trial will also evaluate the quality of student participation during the course.
