Learning objectives

<br />Attendance of the department of Vascular Surgery and of the operating room enables Students to examine in depth specific topics relative to angiologic diseases and to angiosurgery-related diseases.<br />The primary goal is to give the Students a basic semiological knowledge of vasculopathies along with the ability to interpret the main data of invasive and non-invasive instrumental diagnostic tools.

Course unit content

<br />Frontal teaching activities: <br />atheromasia and atherothrombosis ; obstructive chronic peripheral arteriopathy ; acute peripheral ischemias; aneurysmal disease; cerebrovascular diseases; phlebopathies.<br />Interactive teaching activities:<br /> Small groups of students are brought into direct contact in the wards with pre- and postoperative problems. Prior to the surgical operation, students become acquainted with the taking of the medical history and with the objective examination for the most frequent vasculopathies of surgical interest. They are also involved in the diagnostic-therapeutic procedure involving the evaluation of the preoperative investigations, the choice of the right surgical indication and the planning of the surgical operation. Students also have the opportunity to witness the operation in the operating room. During the postoperative period, students learn about the monitoring measures, the procedures for the medication of surgical wounds and the management of any postoperative complications
