Learning objectives

<br />Attending the Department of Respiratory Diseases, the Intensive Care Unit, the Respiratory Pathophysiology Service and the Section of Bronchology. Principal aim is student’s achievement in learining the course contents by discussione with a tutor.

Prerequisites

<br />Background knowledge in Pathophysiology, Semeiotics, Clinical Methodology is required.

Course unit content

<br />During the course students in small groups attend the Department of Respiratory Diseases (case history, clinical examination , assessment of symptoms, thoracentesis); the Respiratory Pathophysiology Service (respiratory function test, DLCO test, cardio-pulmonary exercise test, skin prick tests in asthmatic patients and COPD patients); the Section of Bronchology (fiberoptic bronchoscopy, bronchoalveolar lavage, bronchial biopsy); the Intensive Care Unit (respiratory failure, non-invasive ventilation); the Day Hospital (respiratory rehabilitation, long-term oxygen therapy).
