Learning objectives
<br />The aim of this course is to develope the knowledge of the cardiovascular diseases, showing primarily the surgical aspects of them.<br />At the end of this course, the student will be on familiar with the most common cardiovascular diseases and will understand the different therapeutic approach between cardiac surgeon and cardiologist and all the diagnostic pathway of a patient cadidate to a cardiac surgery procedure.

Course unit content
<br />The teaching of Cardiac Surgery has to be complementary to the one of <br />Cardiology, developing primarily the surgical aspects of cardiovascular diseases.<br />In this course the ethiology, the clinic and the differential diagnosis in cardiovascular dieases will be examined closely whereas the surgical techniques will be explained not in detail.

Teaching methods
The practical aspect of this course is based on the clincal examination of the patient candidate to a surgical procedure, pointing out the cardiac semeiotics and the different diagnostic strategies ( coronaroangiography, CT, X-ray) .
