Integrated course unit module: GENERAL AND SPECIALIST PEDIATRICS (ATT)

Learning objectives

The student must acquire information necessary to: <br />
<br />
evaluate the normal phases of physical growth in healthy children and adolescents; <br />
the most frequent pediatric pathologies including infective and cardiovascular diseases; recognize pathologies in children and adolescents that require the intervention of a specialist. <br />

Prerequisites

- all exames of the first 5 propedeutic semesters; <br />
- Semeiotica e Metodologia Clinica; <br />
- Medicina di Laboratorio; <br />
- Farmacologia; <br />
- Diagnostica per Immagini.

Course unit content

<br /> Fetal and neonatal circulation. Physiology and clinical aspects of the most common congenital cardiopathies. Myocardiopathy. Persistent ostium primum. Coarctation of the aorta. Interatrial and interventricular communication. Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. Rickets. Acute and chronic enteritis and malabsorption. Glomerulonephritis and nephrosis. Rheumatoid arthritis. Rheumatic fever. Leucosis and the most common solid tumors in childhood. Infectious and exanthematic diseases. Obligatory and suggested vaccinations. Battered child syndrome. Urinary tract infections. Physiologic and pathologic growth (primary and secondary growth deficiencies, growth hormone deficit). Physiologic and pathologic puberty (precocious and delayed puberty, precocious pseudopuberty). Sexual differentiation: physiology and pathology of congenital adrenal hyperplasia. Thyroid diseases. <br />
