Learning objectives

Goals:the classroom lectures aim to provide students with the pathophysiological bases for understanding the meaning of certain signs and symptoms reported by the patient, in order to facilitate the understanding of certain surgical pathology chapters which will be the subject of subsequent courses.

<br />Pathophysiological bases of dysphagia and regurgitation symptoms: References to the anatomy and physiology of the esophagus, the pharyngeal-esophageal junction and the esophageal-gastric junction, pathophysiology of the upper and lower esophageal sphincters, pathophysiology of gastroesophageal reflux.<br /> <br />Pathophysiological bases of abdominal pain symptoms: References to the anatomy of the small and large intestine, pathophysiology of intestinal occlusion, pathophysiology of peritonitis.<br /> <br />
