Learning outcomes of the course unit
The student should acquire informations for a proper relationship to the patient in order to safeguard the rights of the same and the prerogatives of the medical professional. He should also acquire the knowledge useful to avoid incurring adverse events to the patient resulting from improper conduct and moreover information for the management of adverse events
The student should already have taken the examinations regarding the study courses of the firt three years and of Pharmacology, Pathology, Orthopedics and Psychiatry
Course contents summary
The first part of the course deals with doctor-patient relationship and informed consent. The second part of the course is designes to introduce students to a historical overview of medical professional liability. The third part of the course applies the tools developed in the first part to clinical risk management.

Assessment methods and criteria
Students must acquire analytical skills in order to appreciate how medico legal issues should be evaluated in every clinical case. Students should demonstrate to have skills and knowledge through oral communication.
