Learning objectives

Hemato-oncologically and infectiously oriented collection of the clinical history and physical examination.
Formulation and analysis of the laboratory tests indicative of the pathology.
Search for the best anatomical region for diagnostic sampling and for the best biological and molecular accuracy to ensure the diagnosis.
Interpretation of the diagnostic report.
Search for the best imaging tool to assess the prognosis and therapy for the case.
Basic notions on the therapeutic approach and its complications.
Basic notion of stem cell-based therapy.

Course unit content

The student should know the diagnostic and therapeutic approaches of neoplastic and infectious diseases. To achieve this objective the student should possess basic notions on the pathophysiology of the hematopoietic system and of the oncogenetic and infective process. The knowledge of conventional and innovative diagnostic and therapeutic strategies is also required. Moreover, the student should achieve the principles of stem cell therapy to treat hemato-oncologic diseases.
