Course contents summary
Functional anatomy of the pelvic floor suspension system
• Work related to the pathogenesis of stress urinary incontinence and description of
front suspension system on the cervical region trigonal and urethra sopradiaframatica.
• Description of structures: ligaments pubo-urethral urethral pelvic ligament, tendon
arch of levator ani muscle, tendinous arch of the endopelvic fascia.
Functional anatomy of the pelvic floor support system
• Constitutive role of the muscles of the pelvic floor muscles divided into the
urogenital diaphragm and the pelvic diaphragm.
• Sling of the puborectalis muscle, levator ani muscle, physiology of the anorectal
Clinical classification of urinary incontinence (UI)
Epidemiology of incontinence
Risk factors: gender, pregnancy, tears from childbirth, menopause, hysterectomy
Diagnostic Tools: pubo-coccygeal test (PCTest) and clinical assessment of muscle
Scores symptom, voiding diary, tests of the diaper (PADTest) and Q-Tip test
