METHODOLOGY AND PERFORMING ARTS CRITICISM (UNIT A)
Learning outcomes of the course unit
The course aims at giving a basic knowledge and a precise methodology, with regard on the subject and the principal models of the history of theater. In the second part the course aims at giving concrete explanations on a specific topic, that is on a period of the Westren theatrical tradition.
Course contents summary
The first part of the course is an overview on the history of theatrical and performing art models, with some analysis of texts, scenes and theatrical conceptions. The second part, the monographic one, deepens the woman's role in the society of the late XIX century, through the analysis of three important works: "La Parigina" by Henri Becque, "La moglie ideale" by Marco Praga e "Il terzetto spezzato" by Italo Svevo.
Beyond theatrical texts that will be analyzed, the program includes: Luigi Allegri, "L'artificio e l'emozione. L'attore nel teatro del Novecento", Laterza; AA.VV., "Breve storia del teatro per immagini", Carocci; Luigi Allegri, "La drammaturgia da Diderot a Beckett", Laterza.
Oral lectures in both the first and second part of the course, with analysis of texts, pictures and videos, and workshops on the monographic part.
Assessment methods and criteria
This course has to be considered valid also for the course of Storia del teatro contemporaneo (6 CFU) and Metodologia e critica dello spettacolo (5 CFU).
