Learning objectives

  <br />The acquisition of the essential scientific knowledge for a systematic description of the skull conformation throughout the lifetime and the structure of the temporo-mandibular joint. Peculiar stress is laid on the correlations shape-structure-function as specific, useful tools for the clinical practice

Course unit content

<br />Joints classification. Skull: inner and outer surface, features of each bone. Temporo-mandibular joint: gross, microscopic and functional anatomy. Masticatory muscles and mandible movements. Facial muscles. Cranial development. Main cranial points, lines and planes employed in craniometry. General features of the vertebral column, the ribcage and the pelvic girdle.
