Aims:The course is structured so as to provide students with fondamentals on structure and function of the cell and its components, reproduction of organisms, and evolution in general. These notions are basilar to the full comprehension of the organic world and understanding of topics of more advaced courses.

- History and development of the theoryof evolution. Natural and Sexual selection. Genetic bases of heredity,mutations and evolutionary processess. Evolution of man and language.

- Structure, function and evolution ofthe eukariotic cell and its components
