<br />Aims:<br />To introduce students to geological and geophysical aspects of forces shaping our planet,<br />To present plate tectonics as an unifying theory explaning the major geological features of the Earth,<br />To examine the major geological features associated with each tectonic environment<br />

Advanced knowledges of Structural Geology, Tectonics, Geophysics and Stratigraphy
Course unit content
<br />Introduction, Morphology of the continents and oceans, Internal structure of the Earth, SeismoTectonics, Isostasy, Plate Tectonics, Genesis and evolution of the oceanic crust, Paleomagnetism, Global heat flow, Rifting processes, Genesis and evolution of the passive margins, Genesis and evolution of the active margins, Continental collision and orogenes, Strike-slip motion and final remarks.

Teaching methods
<br />The course consists of oral lectures, practicals and homeworks concerning Global Tectonics and analysis of major morpho-structural environments occurring on Earth surface<br />The final grading will be based on oral exam, participation, practicals and homework, student paper presentation.
