Learning outcomes of the course unit
This course aims to reconstruct Italian industrial development, linked to the creation and consolidation of industrial districts in the so-called Italian tertiary areas. This development has some particular aspects, as it focuses on the presence of small and medium businesses, characterised by high specialisation and strong flexibility

The concept of local development and the industrial district. The third Italy. Various theories on the origin of districts. Intermediary institutions. Public property. Professional training. Business cooperation. Local banking. Local authorities. Presentation of some case studies.
