Learning outcomes of the course unit
The course aims to provide students the knowledge and understanding of the essential elements of endodontics in the light of the epidemiological pathology of caries, traumatic injuries, anomalies of tooth structure and to the health needs of the population. The purpose of the course is also to provide the student with the ability to use the knowledge and understanding gained in the person identifying the risk of disease in order to implement the appropriate preventive or treatment as suggested by the most recent guidelines national and international.

The student at the end of the course, using the knowledge of anatomy, histology, microbiology, physiology, general pathology, dental materials, radiology, hygiene, preventive dentistry and community, restorative dentistry, periodontics must demonstrate knowledge and understanding about:
Epidemiology, prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the pulp of the tooth.
The student also applying the knowledge and understanding acquired, shall be able, even collaborating with other professionals to:
• Making a diagnosis of pulpal pathology
• Draw up the most appropriate treatment plan with special emphasis on the patient, the treatment of pain and urgency, the elimination of the causative factors in accordance with the sequence of actions and relations with other branches of dentistry
Assessment methods and criteria
The achievement of the objectives set by the course includes a written examination. Through questions about the contents of the course will be determined that the student has achieved the goal of knowledge and understanding of the content. Through questions related to the disease of the pulp of the tooth, strategies for prevention, diagnosis and formulation of treatment plans according to national and international guidelines, will ensure the ability to apply the knowledge acquired by the student.
