Learning outcomes of the course unit
The student must be able to:
prescribe exercise for prevention of non transmissible diseases and disability and delay aging;
suggest physical activity suitable to clinical, functional and social context of their patients, as a means of primary and tertiary prevention, therapy and rehabilitation.

Course contents summary
The cognitive behavioural interventions suitable for optimal mental and physical development and maintenance of the highest standard of health, fitness, and quality of live. The mechanisms by which physical activity plays a pivotal role in promotion of health.
Course contents
Adaptations and adjustments induced by exercise: effects in healthy subjects and in the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of chronic degenerative diseases (cardiovascular diseases, obesity, diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia, metabolic syndrome, cancer, aging). Diseases of affluence and sedentary lifestyle. The prescription of exercise (type, intensity, duration, frequency) and the correct method of administration.
