Learning outcomes of the course unit
The student must acquire useful knowledge, sufficient and adequate to: diagnose major diseases of the adult
polipatologico, even in age 'geriatric able to perform a differential assessment with other internal diseases
(problem solving) and prove to be able to set the correct medical treatment - surgical and rehabilitative
Course contents summary
Heart failure and arrhythmias with particular emphasis on a framework diagnostic and treatment in the elderly
Approach to the patient with chest pain, differential diagnosis and definition of diagnostic and therapeutic pathways, interpretation of the main instrumental tests.
Arterial hypertension: diagnostic and therapeutic classification, interpretation of the main instrumental tests, therapy. Hypertension in the elderly.
Eating Disorders: Principles of nutrition, multidisciplinary approach (psychotherapy, nutritional, behavioral, pharmacological and surgical) to DCA and obesity, application of the principles of nutrition in different clinical conditions, primary and secondary prevention of disorders of the DCA. Malnutrition in the elderly.
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), bronchial asthma and cardiorespiratory failure: from diagnosis with clinical and instrumental interpretation of data and monitoring of the clinical, therapeutic approach to therapy with preventive and acute phases of chronic condition.
The main problems in infectious Internal Medicine (pneumonia, urinary tract infections, sepsis): nosographic aimed at the therapeutic decision, principles of antibiotic therapy applied to various syndromes.
Fever: pathophysiology, main causes and fevers of obscure origin.
Osteoporosis, Paget's disease of bone, and ipercalcemie hypocalcemias, rheumatoid arthritis.
Thrombosis and pulmonary thromboembolism;
Approach to the patient with lymphadenopathy and splenomegaly.
Approach to the patient with thrombocytopenia.
