To acquire outlines of medieval and Renaissance music, of Humanism and the Renaissance in Western culture.
Course contents summary
Discussion of the origins and development of Western musical culture.
Western music as a characterizing element emanated from Roman liturgy to European culture.
Transition to the polyphonic concept understood as a product of art. Elaboration of the compositional procedure in counterpoint.
Development of speculative thought in medieval and Renaissance theory.
