Learning objectives

the objectives of the integrated course are to provide Students with basic knowledge of the biology and clinics of neoplasms with particular reference to the neoplasms of the female genital system; to provide basic concepts of the physiology and clinics of breastfeeding, of the development of the mammary gland and of the most frequent infectious and inflammatory diseases of the breast; to provide information concerning sexuality, personal interactions and sexual behaviour disorders and, finally, to provide information concerning the physiology of the menstrual cycle, amenorrhea, the menopause its various related phenomena.

Course unit content

<br />The aim of this University Diploma course is to train health workers, providing them with the scientific and technical knowledge necessary to practise midwifery as defined by the Italian Ministerial Decree n. 740 of 14/9/1994. The educational goal of the Course is to provide Students with basic knowledge of the biological and pathological phenomena connected with the pathophysiology of pregnancy and childbirth. <br />

Students must acquire basic concepts of anatomy, physiology and pathology. They must be able to carry out all the functions specific to the midwife according to the standards defined by the European Union, to work together with specialists during emergencies, to evaluate autonomously any pathological conditions both of the pregnancy and of the childbirth and to provide assistance to the neonate.
