Learning objectives

The course provides notions of general embryology and histology. During practical activities by optical microscope the student will learn to distinguish structural characteristics of tissues and their organization in organs

<br />“Istologia Embriologia” – Gabbi Carlo, Cacchioli Antonio – (4 CFU). <br /> <br />General embryology<br />            Gametogenesis<br />            Fecondation<br />            Segmentation<br />            Gastrulation and three embryonic germ layers<br />§                    Placenta and extraembryonic membranes in Mammals<br />§                    Embryonic adnexa in birds<br />Cytology<br />            Morphostructural differences between eukaryote cell, prokaryote cell and virus<br />            Structure and function of biological membranes<br />            Nucleus<br />            Cytoplasm, cytoskeleton and cytoplasmic organelles<br />            Specializations of cell membrane<br />Histology<br />§                 Epithelial tissue: classification, localisation and morpho-functional correlations.<br />§                 Glands: classification, localisation and morpho-functional correlations, considerations on the endocrine apparatus.<br />§                 Connective tissue: classification, localisation and morpho-functional correlations, ossification mechanisms, hemopoesis; blood cells and platelets.<br />§                 Muscle tissue: classification, localisation and morpho-functional correlations; the sarcoplasmatic reticulum, the sarcomere, neuromuscular synapses.<br />§                 Nervous tissue: classification and localisation of cell types, organogenesis and subdivision of the Nervous System. Methods for making up histological sections and main histological stainings<br />§                 Interpretation of histological sections by optical microscope.<br />§        Microscopical organization of organs: pipe organs, parenchymatous organs, laminar organs.
