Learning objectives

The aim of the course is encourage the student to develop a mental attitude oriented towards the understanding of natural and common law as well as the laws as well as the laws and regulations governing the profession of the veterinary surgeon, with specific reference to those governing relations with the health and veterinary institutions and organisation (ethical code of conduct) and those that safeguard the well-being of animals.

Have passed the examinations of all the other medical disciplines

In particular, this course covers the following topics: fundamental concepts of law and jurisprudence; organization of animal health and of the related professions at international, Community and national levels; technical and regulatory fundamentals of animal protection and well-being in all production activities (breeding, transportation, slaughtering etc.), sport and leisure time; prevention of strays; CITES standards; doping and antidoping; the healthcare and veterinary professionals stance vis-à-vis the law (civil and penal liability) and safeguarding the law (animal trade, technical expert activities, safety in the workplace, application of regulations with regard to the use and distribution of drugs, self-control).
