Learning outcomes of the course unit
The student is will be expected to acquire knowledge of the aims, instruments, typical methods of occupational therapy, Bobath approach, PNF approach, manual therapy and adult rehabilitation treatment.
Additionally, he/she must be able to research, develop and set up a correct, targeted therapeutic programme for the treatment of the orthopedic and neurological patient

Occupational therapy

Definition of Occupational Therapy at international level: the profile of the physiotherapist and the occupational therapist in Italy., ICIDH 2, ICF, definition of the concept of autonomy as regards dressing, self-care, eating and drinking: demonstration through video cassettes of clinical cases, instruments, facilitating settings. Problem solving, methods of analysis, procedure of the three phases. The aids: international classification, selection criteria, methods of analysis. The wheelchair: technical aspects and criteria for customised prescriptions. Splints: construction and prescription criteria in the various diseases. Rheumatoid arthritis and joint economy. Group work on two clinical cases with a view to defining a rehabilitation plan. Posture and anti-decubitus systems: technical characteristics and the physiotherapist’s selection criteria
