Learning objectives

Reach the optimal management skills odontostomatological medical and surgical patient with systemic diseases. Achieve optimal skills in the diagnosis, prevention, and medical and surgical treatment of diseases of the mucous membranes and bone oro-maxillofacial region. Update on the use of lasers and new technologies in dentistry.

Prerequisites

Knowledge of the pathogenesis and clinical aspects of the disease mucosa and bone of the district oro-maxillofacial surgery. Knowledge of biochemistry, anatomy, physiology, general pathology, medical and surgical pathology, pathological anatomy, pharmacology.

Compilation procedures for requests for radiological examinations, blood chemistry and histological
Discussion of clinical cases
Assistance in the operating room
Execution of the main techniques of regional anesthesia in dentistry
Running tooth extractions, removal of lesions and biopsy interventions

Teaching methods

The student is followed in the compilation of the clinical and compilation and request the blood tests, radiological, histopathological and microbiological processes. Clinical cases are discussed in advance and clinical phases management or therapy is conducted entirely by students under the supervision of a tutor.

Assessment methods and criteria

Discussion of clinical cases and histopathological mid-term and final oral examination.

The course is complemented by the free participation of students in scientific local, national and international organized as part of the clinic, oncology, pathology and oral surgery and the use of lasers and new technologies in dentistry.
