Learning objectives

The student is guided into observing the psychomotor behaviour of the child, adult and healthy elderly person and detecting their peculiar characteristics according to what was learned during the theoretical-practical lectures. <br />
The student is guided into observing and putting into practice all abilities regarding patient lifting and handling techniques, positioning, massage techniques, use of physical therapy equipment, according to what was learned during the theoretical-practical lectures.

Prerequisites

Must have attended internship, N? 19 university credits; <br />
Must have all positive judgements in the assessment sheets (mark above 18); <br />
Must have handed in all reports and have obtained an average mark above 18. <br />

Course unit content

-Observation of psychomotor development of children during the first 3 years of life (child communities), <br />
- Observation of psychomotor development of children from 3 to 6 years (child communities), <br />
-Analysis of the various types of posture: supine, sitting, erect, walking etc., <br />
-Analysis of posture changes (rolling over, change to the quadruped position, change from supine to sitting and vice versa, change from sitting to standing and vice versa, walking), <br />
-Assessment of balance reactions in the various postures, <br />
-Techniques related to muscular and articular examination and massage, <br />
-Moving and handling a patient (collaborating/non-collaborating) <br />

1) Assessment of assessment sheets by the Physiotherapist, internship Tutor, in marks out of thirty; <br />
2) Assessment by the Year Coordinator of the reports written by the student on various clinical cases, in marks out of thirty; <br />
3) Assessment of the practical exam on a model/patient, in marks out of thirty; <br />
The final mark for the internship exam and the average of the 3 marks mentioned above that must all be above 18. <br />
