Learning objectives

The objectives of the course are as follows:- enabling students to develop a critical, and not just a descriptive, approach to geography;- encouraging them to practice their skills of territorial analysis;- imparting a foundation in geographical research (from documentation to terrain), combining site work with bibliographical and archive research;- the application of geographical skills to the enhancement of the historic and environmental heritage and to the respective planning operations.

Prerequisites

A FOUNDATION IN REGIONAL AND WORLD GEOGRAPHY. FAMILIARITY WITH THE USE OF THE ATLAS. A FOUNDATION IN CARTOGRAPHY.

Course unit content

Title of the course: Landscape and the enhancement of the historical and cultural heritage. The course focuses on the theme of landscape, one of the most important geographical categories in the field of human sciences. Through the theme of landscape, geography interacts with literature, philosophy, art history, archaeology, and urban design. The final part of the course will be dedicated to the applications of geography in various fields of cultural design.
