Learning outcomes of the course unit
The course aims to render students capable of independently preparing a critical essay and review for publication in a literary journal.
To this end, before the oral exam students are required to submit a critical essay of approximately 5 typewritten pages of 2000 characters each and a review of a literary text.
Possible topics, to which students may assign their own title, will be agreed upon with the course teacher.
10 ECTS learning credits in Italian literature.
Course contents summary
Course title (5 learning credits): Travel writing: from the literary essay to reportage.
The course, after dealing with the essay as a literary genre, with particular reference to its various types and communicative forms, will cover travel writing, with reference to nineteenth- and twentieth-century texts and authors.
