Learning objectives
The aim of the course is to provide the student with a guideline that can be used as a basis for studying one of the Romance languages and also as a literary and cultural in-depth study of a period and a territory (that of medieval Romania) in which the construction of European identity enjoyed one of its most intensely creative moments.
Course unit content

The course will be structured in sections that aim to provide a general overview of the Romance languages (also to provide basic knowledge in preparation for learning a Romance language as second or third language) and some salient aspects of the relevant literature.<br />
1) Fundamentals of romance linguistics, with special attention to French and Spanish.<br />
2) Elements of textual transmission.<br />
3) Translation (literary and non-literary) in the romance context. Examples and models<br />
4) Evolution of medieval myths (e.g.Tristram and Iseult. The Graal, chivalry, amour courtois, ecc.)
