The course is divided into two units designed to provide concepts pertaining to epidemiology and prevention of infectious disease and the role of major environmental aspects in human disease.

Sources of infection and transmission modes.<br />Direct prophylaxis of infectious diseases intervening at the source, carriers and vectors, active and passive immunoprophylaxis, chemoprophylaxis.<br />Water hygiene: physical, chemical and microbiological criteria of potability; treatments to make water drinkable; prevention of water pollution.<br />Food hygiene: Food infections and toxicoinfections; prevention methods
