LABORATORY FOR GENERAL AND INORGANIC CHEMISTRY
Learning outcomes of the course unit
Aim of the couse is to provide the student with the basic laboratory skill in order to verify and apply the concepts discussed in the general chemistry course.
Knoledge of the basics of general chemistry required.
Course contents summary
1) Titolation of sodium/potassium oxalate with potassium permanganate. Dependence of redox otentials from pH. Titolation of chlorhydric acid with sodium hydroxide and pH indicator (phenophtalein). 2) Solubility and solubility product. Common-ion effect. Solubility variation with temperature and pH. 3) Redox potentials. Comparison of the behaviour of Zn, Pd, Cu in HCl. 4) Chromatography. Application of the concept of polarity.
