LATIN GRAMMAR
Learning outcomes of the course unit
Advanced study of Latin and acquisition of the methodological skills required for independent research.
Prerequisites
Course requirement: 10 credits in the Latin language and literature SDA. Students who have already gained 15 credits in the same SDA must pass a preliminary written entry exam.
Course contents summary
Course title: Sallust’s style and language
Selected readings of Sallust’s works will be provided in order to highlight the novel nature of his historical style resulting from his choice of the monograph form. Furthermore, it will analyse the models and success of Sallust’s style.
Close examination of topics in historical Latin morphology.
Students will carry out a piece of scientific research to be agreed upon with the professor.

Teaching methods
Classroom lectures and exercises plus weekly tutorials.
The exam consists of an oral exam covering the various syllabus topics and presentation of an individual research project to be agreed upon with the course professor.
