The scope of the course is to provide a sound knowledge of the actions of the most important groups of drugs used in pharmacotherapy, their mechanism of action, their adverse side-effects and to provide an understanding of their clinical outcomes.

To take the examinations of FISIOLOGIA GENERALE and BIOCHIMICA

GENERAL PHARMACOLOGY
– Pharmacodynamics: pharmacological targets, qualitative and quantitative analysis of drug action
– Pharmacokinetics: Drug Absorption, Distribution, Metabolism and Elimination
– Drug safety: adverse side effects and iatrogenic toxicity
– Drug Therapy: variability and drug interactions
– Drug development and elements of clinical pharmacology
SYSTEMATIC PHARMACOLOGY
– Drugs affecting the autonomic nervous systems and neuromuscular junction
– Drugs affecting central nervous system
– Drugs affecting gastrointestinal function
– Drugs affecting renal and cardiovascular function
– Pharmacotherapy of asthma
– Pharmacological control of hemostasis
– Drug therapy of inflammation and immunomodulators
– Agents affecting hormonal homeostasis
– Chemotherapy of microbial and neoplastic diseases
