Students must acquire general concepts of hygiene and preventive medicine for prevention and promotion of health through the study of molecular epidemiology of transmittable diseases and chronic degenerative diseases.

Epidemiology: application of epidemiology.
Sources of statistical-epidemiological data. . Main measures in epidemiology: proportions and rates; incidence and prevalence; mortality and lethality. Epidemiological measures of risk: attributable risk, relative risk.
Epidemiological studies: ecological, cross-sectional, case-control, cohort studies. Experimental studies.
Efficacy assessment of medical interventions; ethical and privacy aspects .
General epidemiology and prevention of infectious diseases.
Infection sources; ways of income and elimination of pathogenic micro-organisms; propagation modality; notification, isolation, diagnostic assessment, disinfection, asepsis, antisepsis.
Active immune prophylaxis : composition of the vaccine; the main vaccines; production of new vaccines; the vaccine strategies.
Passive immune prophylaxis; chemio-prophylaxis.

Tertiary, secondary, primary prevention.
Epidemiology and prevention of viral Hepatitis; of HIV; of Tetanus; of Tuberculosis; of respiratory viral infection.
