Learning objectives

<p>To provide students with the main concepts of the etiology and pathogeny of degenerate and inflammatory illnesses in livestock. </p>

Course unit content

<p>Aims of general pathology • Cause of illnesses • Cell damage and death of cells; cellular adaptations in growth and differentiation; intracellular accumulations; pathological calcifications • Acute inflammation: chemical mediators of inflammation • Chronic inflammation • Morphological histories of acute and chronic inflammation • Systemic effects on inflammation • Tissue repair: cellular growth, fibrosis and wound healing • Hemodynamic alterations: thrombosis and shock • Blood physiopathology: anaemia, leukocytosis • Summary of immunopathology • Environmental and nutritional pathology. </p>
