Learning objectives

Provide the students with basic pharmacological elements relative to pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics and the main molecules of interest for the equine

<br />The Course provides students with elements of general Pharmacology including Pharmacodynamics and Pharmacokinetics with particular emphasis on the action of drugs, receptors, the agonist-antagonist concept, therapeutic indications, absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion. Additionally, the student is expected to be familiar with the drugs that act on the automonous and somatic nervous system, adrenergic and cholinergic pharmacology, drugs that act on gastrointestinal functions and on the respiratory system, non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), the mechanisms of action of the main classes of chemotherapeutic drugs and the phenomenon of drug-resistance
