Course contents summary
Pollution sources and estimation of pollution loadings. Source identification. Pollutiuon typologies. Urban wastewaters. Diffuse agricultural loadins. Industrial wastes. Population equivalents. Coefficients for estimating BOD, COD, N and P potential loadings. Pollution effects on surface and groundwaters.Italian and international laws and standards.
Biotechnological wastewater treatment plants. Integrated systems. Biological systems. Biological components of the biological system: the activated sludge system. Biological reactors. Order zero and first order kinetics. Design of a biological reactor. Trickling filters. Biodisk. Fate and reuse of biological sludges. International and national standards.
Extensive wastewater treatment plants. Lagoons. Phytodepuration: Lemna system and subsurface filters. Horizontal (SSF-h) and vertical (SSF-v) subsurface vertical flow.
