Learning objectives

During the traineeship the students must learn in practice the management of patients, anaesthesia protocols, surgery tecnhiques for orchiectomy and ovariectomy/ ovarioisterectomy/cryptorchidism; the gynecological/ultrasoud evaluation in the mare, cow, bitch and queen; artificial insemination techniques in all species

Course unit content

During the internship the student is involved in the practical nature of clinical cases in obstetrics. In particular, the task involves mentoring for teachers in the context of surgery (ovariohysterectomy in dogs and cats, orchiectomy in dogs and cats), assistance and monitoring the pregnant mare, foal management of newborn calves in clinical care, management and collection of semen from the stallion, A.I. in mares and cows and sessions of palpation and soundness breeding examination of cattle hospitalized in departmental stalls and in some affiliated farms
