Learning objectives
The students will be able to carry out the direct and indirect tecniques for the diagnosis of the infectious diseases of the animals and they will be able to provide adequate interpretation of the data obtained.
Course unit content
Students will attend the Division of Infectious Diseases and Microbiology of the Department of Medical-Veterinary Sciences. During this period their activity will concern the laboratory diagnosis of infectious diseases of animals, in particular: isolation and identification of pathogenic bacteria; antibiotic susceptibility test; virological diagnostic; indirect diagnosis by serological testing; interpretation of data obtained from the applied techniques. In addition, it is planned to carry out practical activity on cattle: milk sampling, performance and interpretation of the California Mastitis Test, bacteriological examination on sampled milk in the laboratory.
