Integrated course unit module: Diagnostic Laboratory of animal diseases

Learning objectives

The aim of the course is for the Students to acquire the practical application and the interpretation of the principal methods applied in the bacteriological and virological diagnosis of the most important animal diseases. Another educational goal is the acquisition of the main serologic methods and of their correct interpretation with a view to drawing up a correct diagnostic iter and a correct application of the main vaccine protocols for the prophylaxis of the most important infectious diseases of productive animals.

During the course, Students will attend the Division of Infectious Diseases of Animals and will have the opportunity to perform some practical activities regarding: bacteriological and virological diagnosis of the most important animal diseases , setting up, interpretation and validation of serologic tests used both for diagnostic goals and for population screening purposes, methods for assessing the efficiency of the immune response in infectious diseases and in vaccine protocols
