Learning outcomes of the course unit
The Avian Pathology course aims at providing Students with:
knowledge of the etiopathogenesis, symptomatology and lesions associated with the main infectious, parasitic and mycotic diseases of both productive and domestic fowl
Ability to draw up a diagnostic scheme for the main bacterial, parasitic and mycotic diseases of fowl
Ability to draw up vaccine protocols for the main infectious diseases of both productive and domestic fowl
Knowledge of the main Veterinary Monitoring measures for diseases subject to health provisions
Course contents summary
Poultry raising and poultry diseases
Diagnostic method: semiological pattern for the diagnosis of poultry diseases; Necroscopic technique applied to diagnosis of avian diseases, main laboratory tests in diagnosing diseases in poultry.
Special study:
Bacterial diseases (salmonellosis, pullorum disease/typhoid, colibacillosis, mycoplasmosis, pasteurellosis /moraxella infections, tuberculosis, staphylococcosis, chlamydiosis, diamond-skin disease, clostridium infections, contagious coryza)
Viral diseases (bird flu, Newcastle disease, infectious laryngotracheitis, infectious bronchitis, diphtheria/cowpox, Gumboro¿s disease, Marek¿s disease, leukosis-sarcoma complex, encephalomyelitis, arthritis/tenosynovitis, adenovirus infections, chicken infectious anemia)
Parasitic and mycotic diseases
