Cardiovascular system <br />
Major Aspects.  The heart: structure of cardiac muscle cells. Electrocardiography. The phases of the cardiac cycle. Heart sounds. Cardiac output . Extrinsic and intrinsic regulatory mechanisms of heart function. Blood vessels. Physical laws governing fluid flow in tubes.The arteries and arterial blood pressure. Arterioles, capillaries and veins. The lymphatic system. Regulation of arterial blood pressure. Fetal circulation. Coronary circulation. Pulmonary circulation<br />

Kidney:<br />
Major aspects. Basic renal processes. Blood flow and pressure in renal blood vessels. Function of the glomerulus (factors affecting filtration, GFR, GFR regulation). Tubular function (tubular reabsorption, tubular cells, mechanisms of reabsorption, secretion). Regulation of volume and osmolarity of body fluids.The elettrochimic balance: the kidney, the acid –basic balance. Clearance. Renal hormones. Total water balance. Urine characteristics and species differences.<br />

Respiratory system:<br />
Major aspects. Gas exchange: physical properties of gases. gas pressures in pulmunary alveoli. Gas exchange in tissues. Transport of O2 in blood. Binding of O2 to hemoglobin. Myoglobin. Transport of CO2 in blood. Regulation of respiration. The respiratory center in the brainstem. Chemical regulation of respiration. Placental transfer of respiratory gases. Respiration in the birds.<br />
