Learning objectives

Students will learn basic concepts of general biology, the biological basis of behavior and how biological mechanisms associated with sport comeptition ca be understood by means of evolutionary theory. The objective is to provide the students with the basis of biological principles necessary for undertanding the functuions of physiological and morphological apsects of physical exercise.

Teaching methods

Lectures will be held on-site in compliance with safety standards, provided that further instructions on the ongoing health emergency are not implemented. Supporting material will be available on the specific, student-reserved platform (Elly) and will include slide presentations, audio-video aids or video-recording of the lectures.

Assessment methods and criteria

Students will be evaluated with a final exam at the end of the semester (during the exam sessions). Alternatively, the student has also the option of facultative quizzes that will cover a portion of the program during the semester. Succesfully passing these quizzes will result in the student passing the combined modules of biology and microbiology. In case the student fails one of the quizzes, he has the opportunity to re-take the quiz during the first session of examination (winter session). Failing to do so, the student will be evaluated on the full program during the regular exam sessions.
