Integrated course unit module: HUMAN PHYSIOLOGY AND CLINICAL BIOCHEMISTRY

Learning objectives

This teaching aims to make the student acquire the main theoretical notions, relating to analysis techniques, considered indispensable to facilitate the understanding and acquisition of professional skills which he will experience during the first internship in a laboratory of clinical biochemistry analysis.

Prerequisites

Have passed the examination of basic biomedical laboratory techniques.

Course unit content

This teaching module provides for the learning of the main basic techniques used in clinical biochemistry, taking up concepts of preanalytical variability and absorption techniques such as spectrophotometry and addressing the other main analytical techniques used in the laboratory.

Full programme

- Review of the general characteristics of measurement techniques.
- Learning of the main analytical techniques used in a clinical chemistry laboratory (review of photometry and spectrophotometry, study of chromatographic, fluorimetric, turbidimetric, nephelometric, electrophoretic and immunochemical techniques

Teaching methods

The teaching methodology used is participatory, with classroom discussion aimed at inducing the ability to reflect and provides for lectures, in compliance with safety standards, except for further provisions due to the persistence of the health emergency. In this case the lessons will be carried out telepresence (in synchronous-streaming) on the Teams platform. However, both methods will preserve the possibility of interacting in real time with the teacher.
The program and the material will be posted on the Elly platform (https://elly.medicina.unipr.it).

Assessment methods and criteria

Oral exam including a series of questions regarding the topics covered during the lessons, aimed at verifying the degree of understanding of the concepts, the level of use of the correct terminology and the reasoning skills of the student.
If due to the persistence of the health emergency it is necessary to adopt the remote mode for the exams, we will proceed as follows:
remote oral questions, through the Teams platform (guide http://selma.unipr.it/).
Students with SLD / BSE must first contact Le Eli-che: support for students with disabilities, D.S.A., B.E.S. (https://sea.unipr.it/it/servizi/le-eli-che-supporto-studenti-con-disabilita-dsa-bes)

Other information

Attendance at lessons is mandatory (see course regulations)
