Learning outcomes of the course unit
Gain knowledge on the events of Medieval European History with a view to placing the economic/social, political, cultural and religious problems of that millennium in context, while acknowledging reciprocal interrelations.
Course contents summary
Periodization; Latin-Germanic synthesis; Christianity; Lordship and Feudalism; Byzantium Islam and the Crusades; Reform the of Church; the Communal Movement; the Fourteenth Century Crisis; regional and national states. Additionally, the following topic is also examined in depth: ''Economy and culture in a medieval town: the example of Bologna".
