Learning objectives

To develop the basic endocrine and metabolic know-how to correctly manage physical activity

Prerequisites

As specified by the School of Movement Sciences

Course unit content

Basic knowledge of the roles played by hormones and metabolism in physical activity

Physiology of gonads; 8. Physiology of the endocrine pancreas; 9. Endurance exercise and resistance exercise; 10. Intermediary metabolism in physical exercise; 11The endorine system in physical exercise; 12. Diabetes mellitus and physical exercise; 13. Hormesis and physical exercise; 14. Lactacidemic threshold; 15. The over-reaching and over-training syndromes

Teaching methods

The course will be held through lectures to Students either in the classroom (“in presenza”) or in synchronous-streaming (“in telepresenza”) on the Teams platform. Therefore, the opportunity of Student/Teacher interaction will be preserved both face to face and remotely, by the simultaneous use of the Teams platform.
Lectures will be supported by slide presentations, some of which will be available to students on the Elly platform (https://elly.medicina.unipr.it).

Assessment methods and criteria

Oral examination (in English, on specific request).
Range of assessment values: 1-30 (30 best)
In case of the persistence of the health emergency, the exams will be conducted remotely, as follows:
remote oral questions, through the Teams platform (guide http://selma.unipr.it/).
