Learning outcomes of the course unit
Acquire fundamental knowledge on the physiology of the CNS and be able to recognize the clinically relevant signs and symptoms of the most important and widespread neurological diseases.
Course contents summary
Headaches (migraines, cluster headaches, trigeminal neuralgia, post-herpetic pain).
Epilepsies and status epilepticus (causes and treatments).
Parkinson's disease and parkinsonisms.
Cranial nerves and related pathologies.
Acute cerebral vasculopathies. (stroke): etiology, risk factors, and specific treatments.
Pathologies of the I and II motor neurons (pyramidal syndrome).
Pathologies of the neuro-muscular plaque and of the peripheral nerves.
Elements of neurotraumatology.

Lectures with clinical examples and continuous references to real life situations. According to the health conditions, lessons will be organized in the presence of students with the possibility to follow the sessions remotely in synchronous mode (Teams platform).
