ENVIRONMENT APPLIED PREVENTION SCIENCES
Learning outcomes of the course unit
The course aims to provide the elements for a proper assessment of the risks of human activities on the environment and their effects on human health. At the end of the course the student will be able to know the main aspects and issues related to world energy production and consumption, “air quality” and effects of environmental air pollutants. The student will be able, starting from the basic knowledge given in the course, to acquire by himself the information, features, data that can be useful to know the main characteristics of systems and solutions used and/or for these broad areas (energy and air quality).
Attendance to the course requires knowledge provided by the courses of Physics and Chemistry.
Course contents summary
The course aims to provide the basic concepts related to the planet energy balance, to the energy sustainability, to the classification and measurement of environmental pollutants and their effects on human health. In particular aspects relating to the use of energy, the use of primary sources, to issues related to the consumption of energy in the world and the health impact of pollution both outdoor and indoor will be examined, taking into account both natural and anthropogenic contributions.

Material provided by the teacher
The course includes both lectures and moments of interaction and depth of the material with the students.
Assessment methods and criteria
The assessment of learning is accomplished through oral interview during which through questions on the topics covered in the course will be evaluated in particular the critical capacity, property exposure and the ability to relate the topics covered.
Attendance to the course lectures is highly recommended.
