LOGOPEDICS AND LOGOPEDICAL REHABILITATION
Learning outcomes of the course unit
To transmit to the student the necessary knowledge to enable him/her to make diagnoses, draw up a clinical picture, make a global logopedic assessment and plan the rehabilitation programme for the main disorders occurring during the years of development.
Define the main indications of the Cochlear Implant in the treatment of severe or total bilateral deafness.
Acquire knowledge of the main investigations to be carried out to assess the auditory function.

Learning disorders: differential diagnosis.
Logopedic intervention in general development disorders.
Dyslexia: identification/ classification, pathogenetic hypothesis, logopedic intervention.
Dysorthography: definition, identification/classification, logopedic intervention.
Dyscalculia: definition, identification/classification, logopedic intervention.
Down syndrome and principles of genetic syndromes. The cognitive delay. General details. Clinical picture. Characteristics of communicative-linguistic development. Rehabilitation of prussic aspects correlated with language. Rehabilitation of linguistic levels. Rehabilitation of learning abilities. Rehabilitation of autonomy.
The Cochlear Implant. Electrodes. Speech coding strategies. The selection protocol for children, adolescents and adults. Overview of surgical techniques. Intraoperative electrophysiology. The activation and fitting of the Cochlear Implant. Logopedic rehabilitation.
Auditory Brainstem Implants. General indications and characteristics.
Vocal and liminal tonal audiometry.
Clinical impedance audiometry: tympanometry and acoustic reflex measurements.
Brainstem auditory evoked potentials (ABR).
