METALS IN MEDICINE
The course aims to enable the student to understand and apply the basic concepts and lines of reasoning of bioinorganic chemistry. First goal of the course is to explain the role of the metal complexes in medicinal contexts, including diagnosis and therapy. In this way, the student could advance in the knowledge of biochemistry and of medicinal chemistry.
LEARNING OUTCOMES. The students are invited to develop their communication skills, their ability to learn and make connections between the various arguments. At the end of the course, the student will demonstrate her/his knowledge about: ligands, coordination compounds, main applications of metal complexes in medicinal chemistry.
Good knowledge of general and inorganic chemistry
The course is an introduction to bioinorganic chemistry and to the role of metal complexes in pharmacy
The slides used for the lectures are provided
The course will be conducted through lectures accompanied by the projection of slides, previously provided to the student
Written test: one hours, three questions, 10 points per question.
Minimum 60% score to pass.
